What are YOU doing for Lent?

We asked second and third grade students from a few of our Catholic schools what they planned to do this Lenten Season and why. Here are a few of their answers:

 Mary Nora Brady Jaida

"For Lent I am going to give up eating pizza and quesadillas because I love pizza and quesadillas.  We are doing this to show God and Jesus how much we love them."

Mary Nora
2nd Grade, St. Eugene School

"After I do my homework I will clean my room, because it is always a big mess.  This is what I am doing for Lent because Jesus stayed in the desert for forty days without any food or water, and because my mom will be happy because she won’t have to clean it up."

Brady
2nd Grade, St. Eugene School

"I’m going to give up my iPod for Lent.  And I’m going to listen to my mom more often.  I’m going to do it because I want to spend more time with my family other than listening to music, and so my mom won’t be upset at all."

Jaida
3rd Grade, St. Eugene School

Alia  Matthew Grace

"I will read to my brother Sean for Lent, because I want to be nice to Sean.  I will try to become a better follower of Jesus."

Alia
2nd Grade, St. Eugene School

"For Lent I will keep my room clean for a week so my mom doesn’t have to ask me.  It is going to help me follow Jesus."

Matthew
2nd Grade, St. Eugene School

"What I am doing for Lent is I am going to give up tantrums.  When I am mad I throw a tantrum, and my mom gets mad, too.  And Jesus wants me to be a follower of Jesus."

Grace
2nd Grade, St. Eugene School

Mariano Shane  Ryan

"For Lent I am going to be very nice and pray a lot and be good.  I am going to give up being mean."

Mariano
2nd Grade, St. Mary School

"I am going to pray more because I do not pray much at school or at home except at lunch and dinner and bedtime."

Shane
2nd Grade, St. Mary School

"For Lent I am going to do my chores so I can get more allowance so I can put a donation to the Church, and I’m also going to listen to my teacher and not read when I’m not supposed to."

Ryan
2nd Grade, St. Mary School

 William Viridiana Miguel

"I am going pray instead of watching T.V. like Jesus. But Jesus prayed and did not eat or drink."

William
2nd Grade, St. Mary School

"I am going to give up TV for Lent because I know it's very hard, but I am going to do a sacrifice for God because I love him."

Viridiana
3rd Grade, St. Anthony School

"For Lent this year I will obey my aunts and mom and dad. I will stop drinking soda and I will go to church on Sunday."

Miguel

 Mario  Jesse Elizabeth

"I am going to improve by helping my mom in the house. My mom does all the work and I feel bad. Sometimes my sister calls me lazy."

Mario

"I love Jesus so much! I will do these for Lent: 1. I will listen to the teacher for Lent. 2. I will obey the Ten Commandments. 3. I will obey my dad."

Jesse

"For Lent, I will give up chocolate because I love chocolate and Jesus gave up His life for me."
